The Rock Valley College board of trustees wants union faculty at the community college to pay more for health insurance benefits. That’s part of the message trustees delivered in a written statement today, three days after the union announced no confidence in the board. RVC employees do not share in the cost of health insurance on a percent of premium sharing basis. Rather, employees make a contribution based on a percentage of each member’s salary — ranging between 1 percent to 3.75 percent of their salary, according to the board statement. This means the college pays roughly 91 percent of estimated health care costs for employees.
