Spring 2012: Sam Houston State Tuition increases 13 percent - Stephen Green, the Houstonian

A LITTLE MATH. Students are noticing a 13 percent increase in their tuition bills, due to the 20 percent budget cuts the university received from the state over the last year. A raise in Spring 2012 tuition is causing some students to complain about the repetitive increase and the lack of university notification to the student body about the changes. SHSU students were not directly notified of the recent 13 percent increase in per credit hour tuition cost. The Texas State University System Board of Regents unanimously approved the increase from $121 to $137 at their August quarterly meeting. The university has increased the tuition 21.2 percent since the Fall 2011 semester, according to TSUS records.
