Daytona State College forced to cut jobs, reduce programming at TV station - LACEY MCLAUGHLIN AND DEBORAH CIRCELLI, Daytona News Journal
All 14 employees at Daytona State College's television station have received notice that their jobs will end June 30 and they must reapply as college officials to make the facility more focused on academics. A plan, which will be presented to the college's board of trustees Feb. 17, would leave only six or seven positions at the college's WDSC TV-15 station. "Employees are encouraged to apply not only there but to any other opening they may be interested in at the college," said Senior Vice President of Student Development and Institutional Effectiveness Thomas LoBasso. College President Carol Eaton said state and federal budget cuts have forced the college's senior officials to restructure the facility. Eaton said the station would likely scale back on its local programs and instead purchase pre-recorded national education programs.
