UNLV dean resigns due to budget cuts - Julie Ann Formoso, Rebel Yell

UNLV’s fiscal crisis has caused the dean of the Lee Business School to seek employment at another university. Paul Jarley announced on Jan. 27 that he will be resigning as dean of the UNLV Lee Business School effective July 1 to become dean at the University of Central Florida College of Business Administration. He said that at the time, he was attracted to UNLV because it had a reputation as “an up-and-coming institutions but that severe budget cuts to Nevada System of Higher Education institutions last year made him reconsider his future at UNLV. “I’ve been thinking about [resigning] since last spring when it looked like the budget cuts at UNLV were going to be very large, he said. I think a lot of faculty have been questioning the state’s commitment to higher education since that time.”
