Utah State President Albrecht asks legislative committee to not cut USU budget - Kevin Opsahl, Herald Journal
Utah State University President Stan Albrecht pleaded to the Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee on Monday to not cut USU's budget for the fourth consecutive year, a call echoed by several other presidents for their respective institutions during testimony on Capitol Hill. My message is simple," Albrecht said to the subcommittee, the group charged with doling out state money to all state colleges and universities. "We'd like you take pride in our institution. We do great things; we are yours." Albrecht made his remarks - which included a highlight of USU's achievements over the last year - after testimony from Utah Valley University President David Holland. It was the first day during which all presidents or chancellors under the Utah System of Higher Education got a chance to present their views of what the committee - and the Legislature as a whole - should support.
