Millersville cannot run from budget cuts; men’s track team suffers - Laura Maginley, Millersville Snapper

On Valentine’s Day, it was announced that Millersville University is cutting men’s indoor and outdoor track and men’s cross country. These cuts will affect 30 student athletes and save the university an estimated $200,000. The athletics department has already taken steps to reduce its budget by over $100,000 in the past year, according to FOX 43. Governor Tom Corbett’s proposed budget on February 7 for the 2012-2013 year has led to controversy because of the possibility of education being cut by an additional 20 percent. By the next day, there were dozens of published responses from leading newspapers across Pennsylvania, and they were not so favorable.
