Central Texas Colleges Prepare For Budget Shortfalls - KWTX

As state funding declines one of central Texas' largest colleges is faced with trying to close a budget deficit of nearly one and a half million dollars. In recent years the community colleges across the state have seen money from the state rescinded mid year, as school President Dr. Johnette McKown explains, "We have to budget an amount of money every year in the event that the state requests it back because there new pattern has been very late in the year they are not going to give us the money they told us they were going too." She also said that students want the college to keep up with technology in the classroom. The Board of Trustees will also discuss a possible property tax increases, though that will not be until August.
