NC students plan Greensboro organize conference to oppose tuition hikes and budget cuts - ASSOCIATED PRESS

=Student activists from across North Carolina are planning to meet in Greensboro to plan opposition to tuition increases, budget cuts and other education-related issues. The NC Defend Education Coalition says the Saturday gathering on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro will include chances to organize and plan strategies together. Last month, the UNC Board of Governors approved tuition and fee increases that average roughly $400 across the system's 16 university campuses. The group is planning a mobilization for April 23, when the General Assembly reconvenes in Raleigh. The legislature has the final say on whether the tuition and fee increases take effect.
