Rutgers profs: Demand answers on university merger - ANGELA DELLI SANTI, ASSOCIATED PRESS

At Rutgers University, 200 faculty members have signed a letter urging New Jersey lawmakers to find out more about a plan to fold the university's Camden campus into Rowan University. The professors said too many unanswered questions about Gov. Chris Christie's proposal remain. Their letter to all 120 legislators was released Friday. At a state budget hearing earlier this week, Democrats expressed frustration that the costs of the merger had not been released but they were still being urged to approve the plan by July 1. The professors' letter condemns a consultant's report commissioned by Rowan and Cooper University Hospital that urges a quick transfer of Rutgers-Camden's assets to Rowan, which has reached a borrowing limit in its commitment to build a new medical school.
