Jackson Community College close to deal that would privatize its flight school - Leanne Smith, Mlive
Jackson Community College officials are hoping to next week sign a partnership with an outside company to run its flight school at the Jackson County Airport. Without this agreement, said JCC spokeswoman Cindy Allen, the college would have to consider closing its flight program this summer to help offset an anticipated $2.5 million budget shortfall in 2012-13. “We realize the importance of this program to the community, as well as our students and their academic development, but we can’t afford to bear the full cost anymore,” Allen said. “We have explored several avenues to keep it going and think this is a good option.”
