National Louis University to lay off up to 80 staffers - John Byrne and Kristin Samuelson, Chicago Tribune

The president of National Louis University confirmed that the Chicago institution will lay off faculty as part of its upcoming budget, but said it’s too early to say how many teachers will get pink slips. University president Nivine Megahed said the 125-year-old university -- one of the city's oldest private universities and an institution renowned for its curriculum for people who want to become educators – will close some programs as it seeks to focus on the areas where it can excel and stand out. The university has seen a decline in enrollment recently, Megahed said.
