Calls for review of RI tuition waiver system - Boston Globe

Two members of the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education want a review of tuition waivers offered to employees of the state's public education system and their immediate relatives. Vice Chairman Michael Tikoian and board member Amy Beretta said Tuesday they will recommend that the board's Facilities and Finance committee examine the tuition waiver system. The Providence Journal reported this month that the cost of tuition waivers was $10.6 million last year, up from $4.6 million five years ago.
