Corbett said in a recent meeting with Philadelphia suburban editors and reporters that there are some things about the way things work in Pennsylvania’s higher education funding arena that don’t make sense. And the leaders of some local institutions of higher education agree with him. “If we could re-design it all at some point in time, what should we do when it comes to higher ed?” Corbett asked. “One of the thoughts I would throw out there and for you to think about it, I don’t have an answer on it one way or the other right now, is what if we didn’t fund either one of the two systems?” he said of the state schools and “state-related” colleges and universities in Pennsylvania.
