Guilford College will cut up to 16 faculty and staff positions to reduce its budget, according to the News & Record. Guilford College President Kent Chabotar told the newspaper the exact number and makeup of the layoffs hasn't yet been determined, but it will include some jobs that are already vacant. Any cuts to faculty will come from part-time and adjunct professors, not from tenured or tenure-track faculty. The college is attempting to reduce its $70 million budget by about $1 million in anticipation of a dip in full-time student enrollment and to compensate for reduced state financial aid availability.
