Nicholls State to eliminate youth program - THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Because of budget cuts, Nicholls State University’s Family Services Center has decided to end Project Le Cirque. Since January 2007, Le Cirque has helped children from kindergarten to eighth grade. Nicholls students mentored about 60 children in a Houma housing complex, Senator Circle, for low-income families. Le Cirque is run under a contract between Nicholls and the South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority, which is part of the state Health Department.
