Louisiana Delta Community College will be able to maintain its programs and services without implementing any layoffs in the new fiscal year, according to interim Chancellor Jerry Ryan. Ryan released Delta’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2013 Thursday. The budget, which requires the approval of the Board of Supervisors of the Louisiana Community & Technical College System, will be $18,190,950 — a 5.2 percent decrease from the last year. “This has been a challenging process, but this is a budget that preserves our mission. Even though it’s 5 percent less, we didn’t lay off anyone or close any of our courses or campuses,” Ryan said. “That’s the important thing, because the people of the region will still have their community college, and we’ll still be able to serve everybody.”
