State University president raises are an outrage - The Porterville Recorder

Over the past decade, fees charged by the California State University System to students have skyrocketed more than 300 percent and trustees of that 19-campus system, which includes Fresno State and Cal State Bakersfield, are considering another increase. That is why it is so hard to comprehend why the trustees would approve raises of 9 to 10 percent for three campus presidents, bringing their annual salary to more than $300,000 each to go along with a $1,000 monthly car allowance and either free housing or a $60,000 a year housing allowance. The action was taken this week by the Cal State board and the move was immediately criticized by faculty and students who have endured a decade of steep fee increases for students and layoffs and furloughs for staff.
