Technical college is 1,100 students short, budget's in the red - the Columbus Dispatch

Central Ohio Technical College has laid off two administrators, has extended a hiring freeze and is looking for other ways to make up for a projected budget shortfall of as much as $6 million. The culprit: lower-than-expected enrollment for fall classes, which start on Wednesday. “I am not celebrating the decisions that we’ve made, but the mission to serve the higher-education and training needs of students and employers in the area remains front and center,” college President Bonnie L. Coe said today.
