As college students head back to school, many are seeking cheaper alternatives amid skyrocketing prices for textbooks. A senior at Grand Valley State University, Luke Paul knows how much of a dent textbooks can put in a student’s budget. Which is why Paul, an engineering major, doesn’t fork over $100 for a textbook without doing a little research first. This year, he visited websites such as the online used bookstore half.com before making purchases – a tactic that he says saved him more than a few bucks. “It’s just cheaper,” said Paul, 22. “I think last year I saved buying books online.”
