Nevada Cooperative Extension Services faces big cuts under proposed budget - THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

The interim dean of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension says big cuts proposed in a tentative budget will mean reduced or eliminated programs and staff layoffs. The extension is facing $2 million in cuts under a budget request endorsed last month by the state Board of Regents. "Every academic faculty member in our college will have to become part time, and some positions will be gone," Jerry Buk, interim dean of the Cooperative Extension, told the Reno Gazette-Journal (http://on.rgj.com/QeyoiJ ). He said 150 jobs could be lost, with most being teaching and research faculty.
