The lay offs make up 7.5% of the University of New Orleans' workforce with an expected savings of $3.3 million. It seems like there's only bad news nowadays when it comes to companies and layoffs. Academia is no different. The University of New Orleans just announced they will be laying off 130 workers due to the biggest budget cuts the school has faced in its entire 54-year history. The budget will be cut by $12 million to close a budget gap that was prompted largely by a $9.3 million cut in funds provided by the state.
