Public will have input on Public Radio's future - Delmarva Now!

Salisbury University has supported Delmarva Public Radio annually since its founding. Even with this support, in 17 of its 25 years, the stations’ expenditures have exceeded revenues. In fiscal year 2004, the university provided in-kind and direct support of $208,808. That same year, the president authorized an additional $28,717 of funds that are intended primarily for academic initiatives, with the hope it would allow the stations to turn a corner and eliminate budget shortfalls. The gap, however, continued to grow, and in fiscal year 2011, university annual support had increased to $253,533. Since its inception, the university has contributed $4.8 million, of in-kind and direct support to DPR. In addition to those expenditures, the SU Foundation provided a loan of $175,000 in fiscal year 2010 to DPR . http://www.delmarvanow.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20120923/OPINION/309230010/Public-will-input-Public-Radio-s-future
