University of Georgia trims around the edges with budget cuts - Red and Black

Three percent of the University’s budget must go, an amount totaling $15.4 million. The result? Money will be taken away from service programs at the University’s main and satellite campuses and outreach programs will be cut down on. Salary and wages make up the largest part of the budget, however, and will take the biggest hit — that means people, and lost jobs. Overall, it is estimated that these cuts will result in 150 lost jobs. Few are now arguing that budget cuts shouldn’t be made. It’s too late. The state has demanded a certain percentage. There is no way around it. But the disconcerting side of the cuts is that they are being made so far from the public eye. http://www.redandblack.com/opinion/our-take-university-trims-around-the-edges-with-budget-cuts/article_36ee71d6-067b-11e2-b0e9-001a4bcf6878.html
