UVa says tuition is going up - TED STRONG, Daily Progress
University of Virginia students again could see a tuition increase mirroring the rate of inflation, though more academic units within the university want to tack on extra tuition by subject. During budget discussions at Thursday’s meeting of the school’s Board of Visitors, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Patrick D. Hogan said officials are developing their budget with the assumption that undergraduate tuition will likely go up by 2.5 percent to 3.5 percent. Speaking at a recent orientation for new members of the boards of Virginia’s public colleges and universities, Gov. Robert F. McDonnell said he’d like to see the state’s schools hold tuition down more this year than last year. Most schools increased tuition by about 4 percent last year.
