Colorado State Rams will balance budget by making $1.5M to play Alabama - Coloradoan

In one fell swoop, CSU’s football program got the kind of marquee game it was lacking next season and the $1.5 million needed to balance an athletic department budget that is increasing by nearly $3.5 million for the 2012-13 academic year. Colorado State University announced Thursday that it will play football games at Alabama next fall and again in either 2015 or 2017. The contract for the two-game series includes a guaranteed payment to CSU of $1.5 million for each game, which conveniently matches the projected revenue shortfall for the athletic department in its budget for the current fiscal year. http://www.coloradoan.com/article/20121213/SPORTS0201/312130030/Rams-will-balance-budget-by-making-1-5M-play-Alabama
