Nicholls could face more cuts - Daily Comet

If lawmakers decide to move forward this session with the budget proposed by Gov. Bobby Jindal, Nicholls State University will have lost nearly 57 percent of its state money compared to five years ago, according to data released by the Board of Regents. Nicholls had $34.5 million in state money in 2008, when Jindal was elected, but there's only $14.9 million proposed for the budget currently being debated by lawmakers that would into effect July 1, the beginning of the new fiscal year. The situation is worse in Baton Rouge, where LSU has sustained $125 million in cuts over five years, with more reductions pending. http://www.dailycomet.com/article/20130518/HURBLOG/130519622/1223?Title=Nicholls-8217-budget-cut-in-half-
