Salem Community College cuts 16 staff positions from FY 2014 budget - Michael Williams, South Jersey Times
Facing declining enrollment and a reduced Fiscal Year 2014 budget, Salem Community College officials said they have eliminated 16 staff positions from the college payroll since April. At the SCC Board of Trustees meeting on May 9, the board accepted the administration’s recommendation not to renew eight positions at the college. Another eight positions were also cut from the college’s budget during the board’s meeting in April. According SCC President Joan Baillie, the cuts were made due to declining enrollment, which forced the college to scale back its budget for the 2014 fiscal year. “Like other community colleges over the past few years, Salem Community College has been impacted by declining enrollment,” Baillie said in a prepared statement.
