Dave Ramsey teacher to MTSU students: Don't borrow for college - Amanda Haggard, The Daily News Journal
At Middle Tennessee State University, where the average new graduate has $14,250 in student debt, a speaker from the Dave Ramsey school of money management Monday said not to borrow money at all, not even for college. “If you can’t afford it, then you start at community college and pay the small amount of tuition there by working a part-time job or living with your parents,” said Andres Gutierrez. If students already have accrued student-loan debt, they should “start now” in paying it off. Gutierrez said that Ramsey’s Financial Peace University recommends going to a state school after community college.
