Students at Colorado State University-Pueblo said Wednesday that the school is under attack and they were calling on lawmakers to stop budget cuts and invest in Southern Colorado. About 20 students gathered at Fountain Plaza to rally against CSU-Pueblo’s $3.3 million budget cuts that have resulted in termination of 41 staff and faculty positions. Members of Save CSU-Pueblo Coalition were asking students around campus to sign a petition urging Gov. John Hickenlooper, the CSU system board of governors and system Chancellor Michael Martin to stop the cuts.
