BC budget may lead to more Northwest job outsourcing - Allison Bench, CFTK
While the BC Liberals are busy touting a balanced budget with savings for homeowners and people with small children, NDP opposition members are saying cuts to education are going to drastically affect a province that is already seeing a shortage of skilled workers. The 2014/15 budget freezes funding for the Kindergarten to 12 system for the next three years, and reduces the university and college budget. Skeena MLA Robin Austin says that while the government has previously highlighted increasing skills training as one of their main agenda items, yesterday's budget effectively slashes funding to the institutions that would deliver the training.
