Brookdale College told it must change or face big cuts: College warned to stop using surplus - Carol Gorga Williams, APP
Brookdale Community College’s board of trustees has warned the school’s administration to stop using surplus funds to balance the budget or face substantial changes — including a restructuring of staff and course offerings. The warning, which board of trustees chairman the Rev. Brian T. Butch said was given as an annual priority to the college president, requires the administration to find a way to balance the budget without surplus by fiscal year 2016. Five percent, or $4.7 million, of the school’s $86.7 million budget will come from surplus funds in fiscal 2015, which starts July 1, according to budget figures.
