College eyes cuts, raising tuition - Diane Dietz, Register-Guard

Lane Community College grapples with a $12.6 million budget hole. It’s better to jack up tuition than to cut full-time faculty or college programs. That’s the direction the Lane Community College Board appeared headed Monday night in its deliberation about how to plug a $12.6 million hole in the college’s 2014-15 budget. A preliminary budget would close more than $9 million of that amount by not filling some full-time staff vacancies, reducing part-time staff, offering fewer sections of some classes and trimming the budget for the college’s Business Development Center and other programs. http://www.registerguard.com/rg/news/local/31502900-75/tuition-board-college-cuts-million.html.csp
