Enrollments declining at Vt.’s state colleges - Times-Argus

The new Vermont State College budget reflects declining enrollment while tackling financial shortfalls. The budget reflects an overall decline in projected enrollment. While Castleton is projecting increased enrollment and Lyndon State is predicting enrollment to stay the same, the remaining state colleges are expecting a decline. With approximately 70 percent of students in the state college system hailing from Vermont, the ongoing decline in high school graduates is having an adverse effect on college enrollment. Vermont has one of the highest graduation rates in the country. However, the K-12 population is projected to decline by 18 percent from 2011 through 2019, according to the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation. http://www.timesargus.com/article/20140523/NEWS03/705239961/0/NEWS04
