With New Budget Strategy, UWS Suspends Nearly Half of Grad Programs - Maarja Anderson, WDIO

University of Wisconsin-Superior officials announced Thursday several of their programs will be suspended as part of their budget strategy. "Several of our master's programs, particularly those in some of the visual arts, are going to be suspended. There are a couple programs in the communicating arts,"explained Chancellor Renee Wachter. Wachter said nearly half of the university's graduate programs will be suspended. The university has 25 graduate program offerings, 11 will be suspended. Wachter explained 'suspending' means those programs won't take any new students, but will graduate the students already enrolled. A undergraduate program and minor will also be suspended. It's part of their budget strategy, explained Wachter. The university has to make up $4.5 million in either cuts or revenue over the next five years. http://www.wdio.com/article/stories/S3447226.shtml
