On the heels of a two-year tuition freeze and state budget cuts, the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County has been forced to reduce staff. UW-M/WC saw about a $200,000 budget cut going into next year, which amounted to about 5 percent of its overall budget, with administrators eliminating a number of positions and laying off a long-serving library director with more than 20 years at the campus. A combination of budget cuts, tuition freezes and reduced enrollment forced the university’s hand, administrators said.
