University heads in Oklahoma average $216,000 per year - TEDDYE SNELL, Tahlequah Daily Press

For years, area legislators, administrators of state agencies and state employees have been critical of cuts to programs and flat budgets. But while programs may be shaved and salaries for higher education professors may be stagnant, administrative costs seem to be exploding on many campuses. In fact, administrator salaries have risen to the point that many upper-level staff employees at Oklahoma’s universities earn higher salaries than the elected officials who actually govern them. The state budget for fiscal year 2015 for the state of Oklahoma is a little over $7.2 billion. Fifty-one percent, or about $3.5 billion, is allocated to education and workforce development. Of that 51 percent, about $939 million, or 20.6 percent, is allocated to higher education. http://www.tahlequahdailypress.com/local/x657237920/University-heads-in-Oklahoma-average-216-000-per-year
