Virginia Tech, Radford University officials wait to hear impact of state revenue shortfall - Tonia Moxley, Roanoke Times
Virginia Tech, Radford University and other public institutions avoided a state government shutdown last month that could have led to short- or long-term funding cuts, but a larger-than-expected state budget shortfall announced last week might still require cuts to higher education. When the governor and General Assembly budget standoff over expansion of Medicaid finally came to an end June 20, higher education lost some requested funding for new research, increased student financial aid monies and employee salary increases, among other items. But Tech and Radford officials were heartened that they didn’t have to slash their budgets.
