CNU, William and Mary face budget cuts in wake of Virginia shortfall - Austin Bogues and Dave Ress, Daily Press
A projected $882 million state budget shortfall will affect local public universities this year, as Christopher Newport University and the College of William and Mary both say they expect to receive less money from the state. Lori Jacobs, a spokeswoman for CNU, said the university will submit a plan to cut this year's operating budget by 5 percent, or $1.3 million by Sept. 19, and by 7 percent or $1.8 million next year. It is not immediately clear what would be cut under the plan.
