President of Hocking College resigns amid enrollment decline and budget shortfall - ASSOCIATED PRESS
Trustees at a small college in southeast Ohio have accepted the resignation of the school's president amid an enrollment decline and budget shortfall. The Athens Messenger (http://tinyurl.com/pmbea26 ) reports that the Hocking College Board of Trustees voted Thursday night to accept Ron Erickson's resignation. Erickson was named special assistant to the chairman of the board for special projects. The moves happened during an emergency meeting following a tense few weeks at the college in Nelsonville. The newspaper says Hocking is facing a budget shortfall expected to be between $4.2 million and $4.7 million — the majority of which can be attributed to decreased enrollment.
