Western Washington University President Shepard challenges state’s proposed cuts to budget - Jasmine Aminmansour, Western Front Online

“We were asked by the Office of Financial Management to start with the assumption of 85 percent funding [compared to the 2013-2015 budget] and then propose, piecemeal and in priority order, what we would, if allowed, add back,” Shepard said in a message to faculty and staff. If Western abides by the recommended budget cuts, the university would have to cut 18 percent of its class sections, increase undergraduate tuition and reduce enrollment by 1,759 students, Shepard said in Western’s budget request to Gov. Jay Inslee. http://www.westernfrontonline.net/news/article_52a0ec96-4de2-11e4-b906-001a4bcf6878.html
