K-State faculty salaries not in-line with 2025 plan - Jon Parton, the Collegian

Faced with continual decreased funding from the state, university administrators are relying heavily on tuition to pay for faculty salaries. President Kirk Schulz addressed the issue in a September interview on the K-State Radio Network. “The reality is we’re not getting more money from the state,” Schulz said. “And if you’re not going to get more money from the state, we still need to pay our faculty and staff more competitive salaries, (and) we need to build buildings. We’ve got to do all these things, so the question is, ‘How do you do those things?'” Schulz said he had an answer for that question. “Well, and my point back to our regents is that while they may not like to talk about tuition increases, we need to acknowledge that tuition’s gonna drive what the universities are able to do and I think it’s sticking your head in the sand to deny that,” Schulz said. http://www.kstatecollegian.com/2014/10/27/k-state-faculty-salaries-not-in-line-with-2025-plan/
