LaForge talks budget with DSU personnel - Courtney Warren, Boulivar Commercial

"In my State of the University address in August, I explained the need for the university to identify and achieve permanent expenditure savings totaling at least $1 million to help put our financial house in order. On behalf of the Cabinet, I write to you today to announce the plan to reach that goal," President Bill LaForge wrote. "The budget reduction plan approved unanimously by the Cabinet makes $1,002,360 in permanent cuts to university operational expenses. These savings will not occur overnight, but will be incrementally realized over the next year or so," wrote LaForge. Of the total reductions, $457,560 or 46 percent are in academic areas, and $544,800 or 54 percent are in non-academic areas. A total of 24 positions will be eliminated — eight in academics and 16 in non-academic functions. http://www.bolivarcom.com/view/full_story/26073135/article-LaForge-talks-budget-with-DSU-personnel?instance=main_article
