SUNY seeks 17.5% budget increase - Joseph Spector, Lohud Blog

The SUNY Board of Trustees today approved seeking a 17.5% state aid increase from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state Legislature for the fiscal year that starts April 1. The whopping increase would fund salary increases for the colleges’ unions, as well as advance new programs and services, college officials said. SUNY is seeking about a $300 million increase in state aid, to about $2 billion overall. “The state university’s budget request reflects careful consideration of the necessary State support and appropriation levels required to continue providing high- quality services,” the board said in its budget resolution. http://polhudson.lohudblogs.com/2014/11/06/suny-seeks-17-5-budget-increase/
