Frederick Community College looking at hard year to fund $49 million budget - Patti Borda Mullins, Frederick News Post

The proposed $49 million budget for Frederick Community College started from a zero-based approach in order to be as as cost-conscious as possible, said new President Elizabeth Burmaster. “We feel really good about feeling lean,” she said. Still, she finds the college in the position of asking for at least $763,000 more from the county than the $14.5 million it got from the county this year. The increase would keep tuition and fees the same, and fund a cost-of-living adjustment for all employees. Burmaster started in her position in August and knew she was hired with an understanding that the budget situation was important, she said. Her plan to keep the budget to a minimum was hard enough before news of the state’s $1 billion deficit came out in the fall. http://www.fredericknewspost.com/z/content_type/news_article/frederick-community-college-looking-at-hard-year-to-fund-million/article_3d72896f-119b-5d7d-8370-a4bc42ffb48a.html
