UW-Eau Claire to offer faculty, staff buyouts in face of budget cut - Karen Herzog, Journal-Sentinel

Special Section: Everything you need to know about Scott Walker and his place in the 2016 presidential race In a move that could portend cost-cutting in higher education statewide, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Chancellor James Schmidt announced Thursday that voluntary separation incentives will be offered to about 325 eligible faculty and staff — including faculty with tenure. While the Legislature has yet to consider Gov. Scott Walker's proposed $300 million cut in state funding for the UW System, chancellors already are moving to make cuts on campuses because staffing decisions for the fall must be made months before the state budget is adopted.
