Cal State University talks cost cuts as state budget looms - Josh Dulaney, Long Beach Press Telegram

Officials with California State University fear they won’t be able to make do with less, they said Wednesday, predicting even more crowded classrooms and a diminished educational experience for students. Hearing the details behind several staggering cost-savings measures the 23-campus system has implemented didn’t assuage concerns that the state will likely approve a budget this summer that will fall well short of what the nation’s largest four-year public university system has requested. The presentation at the CSU trustees meeting Wednesday prompted Chancellor Timothy P. White to issue yet another warning about the state budget’s impact on the CSU, particularly regarding overcrowding in classes as campuses struggle to meet student demand with adequate faculty staffing. http://www.presstelegram.com/social-affairs/20150325/cal-state-university-talks-cost-cuts-as-state-budget-looms
