NSU academics to see major budget cuts - Liz Palka, WAVY

Norfolk State University is facing a major budget shortfall, and employee layoffs are expected. “I would anticipate that the most cuts on campus would come from excess faculty in our academic programs,” Interim President Eddie Moore Jr. said Friday afternoon. WAVY.com first reported about the anticipated budget cuts Thursday, when Moore confirmed a meeting was called to inform faculty members of possible layoffs. “I think we’re doing the best job of planning that is really humanly possible,” Moore told WAVY.com. Moore said low enrollment has left the university facing a budget deficit between $14 million and $17 million. He said there were just over 6,000 students enrolled at NSU this past fall, and he expects enrollment for fall 2015 to be around 5,100 students. http://wavy.com/2015/04/16/nsu-faces-budget-deficit-and-employee-layoffs/
