Students using crowd-funding websites to pay for school - Lisa Robbins, First Coast News

The cost of higher education has encouraged some students on the First Coast to find creative ways to put themselves through school. Using crowd-funding website, like Go Fund Me, students are asking family, friends, and complete strangers to donate money. Alana Wilson is a senior at West Side High School. She was recently accepted to her dream school, the University of Florida. "I'm excited but I'm super nervous," she said. On a whim, she reached out to her family and friends about scholarship opportunities. A family friend told her about Go Fund Me and she decided to give it a try. Her campaign is called 'Florida Dreams'. "I've raised $700 but my goal is $10,000," she said. http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/news/2015/04/20/students-using-crowd-funding-websites-to-pay-for-school/26059895/
