Commitment to higher ed lacking in state budget plan - Brent Smith, La Crosse Tribune

The controversy over how to fund the University of Wisconsin System goes on. The current proposal is for a cut of $300 million and a tuition freeze. It’s clear that the proposal as it stands will have a negative impact on the quality of education in our universities. You simply cannot cut $300 million and not provide any alternative steady source of revenue without consequences. Nonetheless, that is the direction we seem to be going. No one should be fooled if the $300 million cut becomes $250 million or $200 million — the negative results will be the same. http://lacrossetribune.com/news/opinion/brent-smith-commitment-to-higher-ed-lacking-in-state-budget/article_7c6a596c-707c-537e-8ce5-c73773e9b069.html
