Emails show budget authors initially stood by plan to dump Wisconsin Idea -Patrick Marley, Journal Sentinel

Walker said in February, in comments to reporters and in a lengthy statement his office issued, that the matter was the result of a miscommunication between Schutt and the budget office. The governor never intended to eliminate the Wisconsin Idea from state law, he maintained. Administration spokesman Cullen Werwie also said Friday that the matter was the result of a miscommunication. The records released Friday show the budget office provided the governor’s office with a copy of the UW section of the budget as a work in progress.
